La Tertulia’s story began in 1956, when it started as a meeting space for art lovers and intellectuals within the San Antonio neighbourhood. Over the years, the museum has faced its share of challenges and gone through a number of iterations. As it stands, La Tertulia museum of modern and contemporary art is spread over 3 buildings along the Río Cali in the beautiful “oeste” section of the city.

While it’s not ornately adorned as some art galleries and museums are known to be, it is well maintained and one of the more interesting tourist sites in Cali.

The museum is home to over 1500 pieces of American art, but to Cali, it is much more than just a stuffy gallery. La Tertulia is a cultural hub that brings art to life by hosting various activities throughout the year, including lectures, independent film screenings and even dance classes.
